Plot:
Some speak of a peaceful invasion. What is certain is that it is now a global phenomenon. They even had to invent a word for it: Hallyu, which means Korean wave. Yes, because the Korean Wave has overwhelmed mass culture with its hegemonic style. K-pop, K-drama, K-beauty: from music to cinema, from cosmetics to comics, from fashion to sports, everyone is talking about Korea, everyone wants to see Korea. And so we too can set out on a journey accompanied by an exceptional guide, Paolo Quilici, who has been in love with the country of the calm morning since unsuspecting times, who has had years to enter with discretion and delicacy into the soul of the youngest and most innovative nation on the planet. In these pages we will therefore learn where to eat best, which monuments to see, where to shop, how to get around, what to say and above all what not to say. But the doors to habits and customs, traditions and secrets will also be opened. We too will become a bit Korean in Korea. Are you ready to go?
REVIEW:
I came across this "tourist guide" thanks to Kotalia, because I admit that during the pandemic I really missed it. Tourist guide in quotes, because it is not the classic guide that we all know, where sites to see are recommended, restaurants to eat in and hotels to sleep in. In short, to be clear, the classic Lonely Planet with very few photos and mostly all in black and white. No, We love Korea Of Paul Quilici it is much more and at the same time very different from a simple guide.
To begin with, the book is laid out with captivating, youthful graphics and above all it is very colorful and full of photos. The content of the book is no different! We love korea passed with flying colours, it won me over from the first pages with fluid and direct writing.
It literally drags you into the book, allowing you to take a trip to Korea from the comfort of your sofa
This was the feeling while I was reading; the pages are full of curiosities, interesting news, useful suggestions and the style is so direct and engaging that you feel part of this journey and not a simple spectator.

In this atypical guide, Paolo touches on all the topics necessary to better understand this nation. From describing the neighborhoods to suggesting particular gems that perhaps not everyone will know. It describes a Korea that is not alone K-drama and K-pop, but a complex world waiting to be discovered. And for many aspects that diversify our cultures, Italian and Korean, Paolo offers many ideas to reflect on the similarities that we have in common.
I recommend the guide to those who know nothing about Korea because Paolo offers a very organic and precise overall vision, with that extra pinch that generates a strong curiosity in wanting to know even more. However, I also recommend it to those who already know Korea because it is a truly well-structured book, which also gives us the author's emotional impact; you can feel on every page the strong bond that Paolo has with this nation.
When I reached the end of the book, I felt like an orphan, I wanted to continue reading even more pages to continue my virtual trip to Korea.
Congratulations to Paolo Quilici for his work!
