REVIEW:
«I know it's a fortnight until Christmas, but imagine that it's today and that this is a real campsite. Make a wish and open the package."
Under the December sky by Annamaria Bosco

When December arrives I get into the mood Christmas and I start reading books and watching films that tell about the magical holiday season. Imagine how enlightened I was when I found this book set in Korea, right during the Christmas holidays… Santa Claus practically arrived well in advance!
The title and the cover of the story immediately struck me because they represent the heart of the novel and the period in which the events follow one another. Reading the plot was the icing on the cake confirming that this was the right read for me!
I met the author with her latest release Nothing serious except love and I decided to recover everything he published. Under the December sky it is the first novel that Annamaria has written set in Korea and, perhaps, you can sense that the author is becoming familiar with this genre. However, having read the releases backwards, I really noticed a growth and fluidity in managing this new setting.
Despite this, I really liked Under the December Sky, especially because I immediately fell in love with the protagonists: Lee Ha-Neul e Ji Seok Woo. They seem like two very distant worlds, destined not to meet, yet fate has a hand in it and will make their paths cross when Ha-Neul most needs to receive comfort. Only he didn't imagine that fate would work so hard, making him meet the stranger again in the least likely place possible.

What there is between the two young people who don't even know each other is a magic that flows subtly and binds them with a red thread, without them even realizing it. It is a delicate story, with that delicacy that Korean Dramas are imbued with, where feelings fly as light as feathers and affection is expressed through small gestures. Obviously to follow in the wake of the Drama, the novel will also be peppered with many rather embarrassing moments that will make you smile a few times.
«I agree with you. Never disappoint a child. Desires that are suspended and never fulfilled end up turning into burdens on the heart that are difficult to shake off as adults."

It is not just a love story, but between Christmas and delicate oriental romance, the author also tells us about deeper aspects such as the lack of a family that leads you to not have firm roots, and on the other hand those who do have a family, but find themselves completely entangled in the manipulations of a mother who is too obsessed with seeing her son come to fruition.
What did I like about this Christmas book?
What I loved about this story was precisely the delicacy of the feelings that arise in the two young people slowly, as they gradually get to know each other. The most beautiful scene? The walk together with the arrival of the first snow. It made my heart sigh.
«I believe that, if we met, perhaps destiny wanted to tell us something. But if I exaggerated, if you think that kiss and even this one are too much…" He raised his hand and I hurriedly, without even thinking, to take it again.

To make the story sweeter, then, there is the setting of Christmas, a period that offers magic and miracles and even in this case there will be wonderful and incredible ones. I don't give spoilers, but I admit that the change in a character in the story pleasantly surprised and surprised me.
In short, if you like Drama and the magic of Christmas and want to experience it on the other side of the world, then you must read Under the December Sky! In the meantime, I will start stalking the author to make her write an entire novel, since she has all the skills to do so!
Congratulations to the author.
