In Korea Buddha's birthday it is celebrated according to the lunar calendar and falls on the eighth day of the fourth month. Buddha's birthday is a national public holiday and Korean culture and tradition is celebrated.

The temples of the town are covered with lanterns as are the surrounding courtyards and streets. In fact, Buddha's birthday is also known as the Lantern Festival, which are made with colored paper and red, pink and gold candles. Hanging at the bottom there is a piece of paper where you can enter your name and the wish you want to come true. Visitors leave a small offering at the temple to hang their lantern. Many temples also offer free Bibimbap and tea to visitors.
Traditional games, mask dances and acrobatic shows are organized in the courtyards of the temples.
The lit lanterns are a way for participants to reflect on Buddhist virtues and teachings.
