Dear reader, I want to tell you about this KDrama, which I personally adore, so much so that I've even seen it 4 or 5 times, because it is capable of giving a mix of very strong emotions, which I haven't felt for a long time, while watching a television series or a film. The actors, who are very young, are really very good, they manage to make me go from funny moments to extremely moving or dramatic ones in an instant. This series will make you fall in love to the point of making you very curious to watch other KDramas, as happened to me (years ago now).
Plot
This drama is impeccable, both technically and visually, it is set in the historical period of the dynasty Joseon where the importance of maintaining the Imperial power was of vital importance and internal battles constantly took place within the Royal Palace by noble families, even going so far as to kill each other among relatives.
Imagine what happens when inauspicious births and loves deemed "inconvenient" come into play in this story. During the historical period, for the Royal Family to have twins, specifically a girl and a boy, was considered bad luck and a sign of weakness for the male Heir to the Throne, as the sister in the mother's womb would have weakened his royal blood and his male strength and power.
Royal Affection tells of love, passion and subterfuge between a Queen disguised as a man and a young Preceptor who finds himself attracted to him/her.
So the beginning of this story sees Princess Han, wife of the Crown Prince, future Emperor, giving birth to two twin brothers (male and female) who are separated at birth, because as specified above it was considered an ominous sign by the royal house. The Emperor, as well as the grandfather of the princes, gives the order to kill the little girl Dam-Yi, the weakest and most unwelcome in the line of succession. The Queen, however, does not allow it and has the court lady hide her as a servant among the monks.
Dam-yi (Choi Myung-Bin), while still a young girl, she met Jung Ji Woon (Go Woo Rim), and falls in love with him, reciprocated. In the meantime, Crown Prince Hwi, her twin and next heir to the throne, by a strange twist of fate, meets her and, having noticed the extraordinary resemblance, bored by Court life, asks her to help him escape from the Palace, and to exchange roles and clothes. In one of these escapes from the palace he is mistakenly mistaken as the twin sister by Jung Ji Woon's father and killed.
Found and re-embraced by her mother Princess Han, Dam-Yi is however forced by her to take her brother's place, both to ascend the throne and to survive. Here the friendship and affection between the two young people Dam Yi and Jung Ji Woo is severed and they are therefore forced by circumstances to split up, to meet again ten years later.
From here starts the wonderful story of this great love, conspiracies, betrayals and the struggle for power, due to the greed of human beings, the two leading actors of the KDrama are Park Eu Bin in the role of Dam_Yi and Rowoon in the role of Jung Ji Woo.
Royal Affection highlights how in the historical period Joseon, prejudices and female minorities were the order of the day. For the Dignitaries and Court Officials, it was impossible that a Woman could have a fundamental role in leading the country as she was considered weak and incapable of making decisions, ruling and sustaining power. –However, this was not the case in Korea during the historical Silla period, at that time Seondeok she was a Queen Regnant, the twenty-seventh Sovereign of Silla and the first Woman to wear the Crown. We will talk about you in one of Kotalia's next articles.–
Cast
A cast of quality and of the highest level, Park Eun-bin she is the main actress who plays Dam-Yi

Why watch it
This KDRAMA is also suitable for those who are not used to this type of historical drama, I personally love this work, I always look at it very willingly every time, ready to be carried away by shivers in every scene, thanks also to the overwhelming music, capable of moving the actors themselves when they see each other again at the KBS DRAMA AWARDS, as seen in the link below.
All I can do is wish you GOOD VISION.
